Class Description: (From the CS website)

This course provides an introduction to the essential aspects of UNIX
(and UNIX-like) environments. The following topics will be covered: shells,
shell programming using scripts, system and application development tools, 
process control, the file system and devices, networking, basic administration 
and the X Window System. Prerequisite: COSC 1047 or the permission of the 
instructor. (lec 3) cr 3.
